Machli, who was born in the ranthambore national park in the India state of Rajasthanin 1996, immediately rose to prominence for her remarkable hunting abilities and incredible bravery
Machli reputation as a skillful hunter and daring combatant developed with her age.
She was known to hunt huge prey , including crocodiles, which is unusual for tigers.
Machli's unusual look, compiete with a fish shaped mard on her head, made her a popular subject for wildlife

“Machli was very camera friendly and obviously she became the most photographed tigress in the world. We profile a tiger to make films and create awareness about conservation. But Machli was a legend in every sense and her gene pool is today spread across Rajasthan in RNP, Sarika and Mukundara,” Nalla Muthu the award-winning filmmaker said. His film on Machli named World's Most Famous Tigress had won National Award at 66th National Film Award Ceremony.

As per her family tree prepared by Dhiraj Kapoor, Machli gave four litters and produced four
male and five female cubs of her own. The family tree shows that at the end of 2018 half of the
tigers in Ranthambhore carried genes of legendary Machli.
